Sở Thuế Vụ Liên Bang Hoa Kỳ vừa đưa ra một chương trình giáo dục kiến thức thuế vụ mới là đề tài nhận được sự ủng hộ của nhiều ban, ngành và quần chúng: Understanding Taxes Program – Chương Trình Hiểu Biết Thuế Vụ. Chương trình này hướng vào việc cung cấp kiến thức thuế vụ cho học sinh ngay tại lớp học. Sở Thuế Vụ Liên Bang đã hợp tác với các nhà giáo dục để cung cấp cho quý vị, ban giám hiệu và ban giảng huấn, một chương trình dạy để giúp học sinh hiểu biết thuế vụ - The Understanding Taxes Teacher Site. Đây là một chương trình giáo dục thuế vụ phối hợp có thể sử dụng ở bậc trung học và đại học. “Hiểu Biết Thuế Vụ” là chương trình được truyền đi và sử dụng trực tiếp trên mạng thông tin điện tử, bao gồm các nhóm bài chi tiết, các hoạt động học và làm bài tập phối hợp, thao tác bằng những hình ảnh và hoàn cảnh thật, cùng nhiều điều khác nữa !
Đối với thầy cô giáo, mỗi bài dạy trong chương trình giáo dục thuế vụ này bao gồm các tiêu chuẩn giáo dục của tiểu bang và cả nước, đồng thời được nối mạng với hệ thống tiêu chuẩn của riêng từng tiểu bang và hệ thống tiêu chuẩn quốc gia, giúp đơn giản hóa các kiến thức thuế vụ khi đưa vào chương trình học sinh động của quý vị.
Đối với học sinh, mạng giáo dục “Understanding Taxes Student Site” sẽ giúp các em hiểu được tại sao phải khai và đóng thuế và làm thế nào tính được số tiền thuế phải đóng. Khai và đóng thuế hay thực hiện trách nhiệm này sẽ trở thành công việc thường niên của các em sau này, thế thì tại sao chúng ta không cùng nhau bắt đầu quá trình hưóng dẫn các em hiểu biết thuế ngay từ bây giờ !
Bộ giáo Dục Hoa Kỳ cũng đã bày tỏ sự quan tâm đến chương trình giáo dục thuế vụ của IRS dành cho cho học sinh từ học đuờng. Một trong số các cơ quan tài trợ cho chương trình này là Hội Đồng Giáo Dục Kinh Tế - The Council for Economic Education, đã được yêu cầu xem xét để cấp các khoản trợ cấp giáo dục cho các tổ chức và cơ quan giáo dục ở địa phương đối với các trường hiện đã, hoặc sẽ, giảng dạy Chương trình Tìm Hiểu Thuế Vụ cho học sinh. The Council for Economic Education (The Council) is soliciting applications from qualified organizations seeking to promote economic and financial literacy among students in kindergarten through grade 12. In 2004, the United States Department of Education’s Office of Innovation and Improvement designated the Council as the sole agency to implement the Excellence in Economic Education (EEE) Program. Now in its sixth year, the Council is pleased to announce a new opportunity to apply for funding for projects during 2009-2010. The application deadline is June 2, 2009.
Sub-grant awards are contingent upon the continuation of funding of the Council for Economic Education's grant award under the Excellence in Economic Program from the U.S. Department of Education. The Council will notify all applicants in the unlikely event that the project has not been funded.

ELIGIBILITY
Any state education agency, local education agency, or state or local economic, personal finance, or entrepreneurial education organization that works with K-12 students may respond to this RFP.
The Council strongly encourages including an implementing partner that the applicant will work with to carry out the goals identified in the application, although it is not required. Eligible partner organization categories include:
* a private-sector entity
* a state educational agency
* a local educational agency
* an institution of higher education
* an organization promoting economic development
* an organization promoting educational excellence or
* an organization promoting personal finance or entrepreneurial education
Applicants are required to show how they will match the federal grant with an equal amount of funds from non-federal funding. All funds from this grant must be used to supplement and not supplant other federal, state, and local government funds expended to support activities appropriate for this grant.
