Spring of the tender age 21
English version by NGUYỄN HỮU LÝ
The near end afternoon of the year spreads melancholy over the street-edge
The homeland vault of heaven is covered by numberless white clouds and shrouded in mist
The tender age of 20 nurtures the rosy dreamy days
Already being verdant, trees and fruits grow up in meditation.
Body and blood are asked to burn up as dew and smoke
In the heart of this world, to make a search for the human being back
The puddle of hair has spent days and months through wilted grasses
The existence fire has scorched the tender age of 20
The hollow-eye kisses the warm land bottom
Dry stick of trash, skin and flesh are also dry
Sun is always rising sky-high in the whole nature
What’s the use for human being to select his frosty garden area?
I call upon softly the man’s name who has shed tears
In his life lasted just exactly twenty years old
Blood would be dry-Hopefully, their heart wouldn’t fall off
In the very middle of Nothingness, the little grave would peacefully lie down
Among my friend’s group, some of mine’ll get a sleep in hunchback
Others’ll rise up against their exiled fate
In each heart, there full of wounds from partition
This humiliation will inflict on next offsprings generations
As for me, I always wondered months and days far away home
I just floated about in order to find a hand seizure
The first lunar month weather was commonly existed sorrowful and tempertous days
I reminised about Saigon and cherished Hanoi’s flying clouds.
