A Far Distant Winter
English version by NGUYEN HUU LY
Let’s wake up and bring along winter down town
Share a little bit of chilliness with everybody, my darling!
Nostalgic sadness abroad looks like each white flake of snow
Which dyes our hair together silently and gently
The northerly wind blow in gusts paralyzes our fond remembrance
The native land light of yore flashes desolately through our heart
Flows of tears seem to dissolve in flesh and blood
Signs of sharp pain keep chewing over and over again in every night
The sunshine dodges forever and never returns
The distant horizon stretches calmly a leaden expanse of the sky
A thread of hoary hair lays down spiritedly on the little pillow
Hurt feet suffer from unfamiliar grains of sand
Several yellowing leaves vacillate beside the window
The ancient town appearance saddens and makes the wick yarn
Past pledges are rolling in dreamy nights
Someone who has returned to his neighborhood, please remind his name
Bent-backed, he bears heavily the summer pinned down by memories
But it is not easy that the too far native land would be forgotten
