Huế xưa
THUẬN XUYÊN
Đây Huế đô! Một ngàn xưa ủ mộng
Giữa núi cây trùng điệp nhịp nhàng xanh
Sông riu ríu chở buồn xa phá rộng
Dòng lung linh ủ bóng cố đô thành
Thuyền chở ngập một khuya hò bát ngát
Rót tương tư ngây ngất giữa bao la
Tàu đôi hướng đưa tình về dào dạt
Tìm Kim Long chiêm ngưỡng sắc kiều hoa
Chiều ngả nón chào nhau trên đỉnh Ngự
Đêm Hương Giang hò hẹn khúc Huyền Trân
Khách hồ hải bỗng gặp hồn thương nữ
Điệu đàn xưa vang dội ánh trăng ngân
Bến đá bạc long lanh viền nước bích
Xuống tầng tầng mở đón mũi tình thuyền
Lan can trắng dìu tay người thanh lịch
Ôi đôi mắt long lanh!
Mùa phượng thắm và tình anh cũng thắm
Thơ ra đời thuở ấy ngợi ca em
Em là mộng mà tình anh quá đắm
Nên ảo huyền lẩn biến sau rèm.
Ancient Imperial Capital Hue
English version by NGUYEN HUU LY
Here, Hue! Since time immemorial, the ancient capital had long been incubating in dreams
Among rolling mountains and forests which were harmoniously green
The river carried slowly melancholy to the wide lagoon
Its glittering current cherished warmly the ancient citadel's shadow
The boat overloaded an immense barcarolle far into the night
To pour lovesickness infatuatedly amidst the infinity of space
The ship from both directions ogled passionately
To discover Kim Long and admire its gracefulness
In an eventide, everybody took off his hat and greeted each other at Mount Ng summit
The Perfume River at night-time made a tryst together about the Huyen Tran love story song
The errant guest suddenly met the prostitute's soul
The ancient musical tune resounded vibratingly the moonlight
The silvery rocky river wharf sparkled in the emerald water edge
Stepping down the boat to start greeting the loving bower
The white banister guided the courteous and refined person's hands
Who strolled gracefully the flower-garden in spring late - afternoons
Only white dress flaps were glimpsed at the velvety garden
The wind caressed flurriedly the hanging baldachin at the lady's bower
She was a noble jade leaf on the shy and diffident ancient golden branch
Only moon's lips could kiss her cherry-red cheeks
The low tea tree fence was making - believe to separate the villas
Between the well - mannered lad and the fair lass
The go - between bird came to prod the young neighbors
By gazing amorously into their eyes full of paradise
What a lovely Hue! I once had visited there a year of old!
As a simple person by nature, I didn't want to any extraordinary story at all
But flamboyants bloomed and you made your appearance from your high - storied mansion
What a dawn! With your gemmy eyes!
The flamboyant season became gorgeous, but also my love more intense
I started composing poems at that time to extol you to the skies
You were a dream, but I was completely spell-bound by love
So your illusion disappeared behind the curtains
