Chinh Phụ Ngâm Khúc
Nguyên bản Hán Văn:
ĐẶNG TRẦN CÔN (?-1748)
Dịch thơ Tiếng Việt:
ĐOÀN THỊ ĐIỂM (1705-1745)
Thuở trời đất nổi cơn gió bụi
Khách má hồng nhiều nỗi truân chuyên
Xanh kia thăm thẳm tầng trên
Vì ai gây dựng cho nên nỗi này
Trống Trường Thành lung lay bóng nguyệt
Khói Cam Tuyền mờ mịt thức mây
Chín tầng gươm báu trao tay
Nửa đêm truyền hịch định ngày xuất quân
Nước thanh bình ba trăm năm cũ
Áo nhung trao quan vũ từ đây
Sứ trời sớm giục đường mây
Phép công là trọng, niềm Tây sá nào
Đường giong ruổi lưng đeo cung tiễn
Buổi tiễn đưa lòng bận thê noa
Bóng cờ tiếng trống xa xa
Sầu lên ngọn ải, oán ra cửa phòng
Chàng tuổi trẻ vốn giòng hào kiệt
Xếp bút nghiên theo việc đao cung
Thành liền mong tiến bệ rồng
Thước gươm đã quyết chẳng dung giặc trời
Chí làm trai dặm nghìn da ngựa
Gieo Thái Sơn như tựa hồng mao
Giã nhà đeo bức chiến bào
Thét roi cầu Vị, ào ào gió thu
Ngòi đầu cầu nước trong như lọc
Đường bên cầu cỏ mọc còn non
Đưa chàng lòng dặc dặc buồn
Bộ khôn bằng ngựa, thủy khôn bằng thuyền...

The ballad of a fighter’s wife
Original in Chinese Characters by:
DANG TRAN CON (?-1748)
Translation into Vietnamese by:
DOAN THị DIEM (1705-1745)
English version by NGUYỄN HỮU LÝ
In time of turmoil, when earthly whirlwinds arise
The weaker sex’s rosy cheeks encounter many difficulties and vicissitudes
Oh, blue heaven so high and so aloft above!
Tell me who caused this trouble plight
The Great Wall’s drum resounds and shakes the moonlight
The Fresh-water Spring’s dark smoke rises and wakes the clouds
From nine steps the precious sword is handed down
And a proclamation to the people issued at midnight setting the date of going to war
The peaceful nation for the last three hundred years
Is now giving combat uniforms to her officer
The King’s Messenger stirs up the departing soldiers
The common rule is important, so it don’t worry about their triffing matter
Traveling far and double-quick with bow and arrows on their backs
The fighters’ heart are worried about wives and children in farewell moment
As flags’ shade and drum’s sounds flare in the distance
Melancholy goes up the pass top, and resent and hate come out from home.
The young man belongs to a lineage of outstanding talent
Who quits pens and ink_slabs in favor of fire sword
Yearning to present the King with canopied dais, the throne
His resolute sword would not tolerate any rebel
His will wants to die bravely in battle
Treating the Thai Mount as light as a feather
Leaving home in combat uniform as warriors’dress
He whips up at the Vi bridge while the autumn wind is roaring.
Under the canal bridge, the water is limpid
On the bridge sides, the grass is still green
I see you off with a heart of interminable sorrow
The infantry hasn’t horses, and navy without boats
