Bên Sông Nhớ Người
PHAN XUÂN SINH
Bao năm ta trở về chốn cũ
Ngồi bên sông chờ chuyến đò ngang
Nước với ta bao lần rong ruổi
Cùng chia nhau bao nỗi xót xa
Ta nhớ đò, người qua thuở ấy
Nước mắt còn ướt đẫm bên sông
Oan khiên ụp xuống đời con gái
Tiễn người đi. Ta nát cả long
Có những buổi chiều ta đứng đợi
Những chuyến đò qua ngập những người
Vẫn thiếu bóng ai bên sông ấy
Để lòng ta đau lặng ngậm ngùi
Tháng năm sống đời trai phiêu bạt
Đôi chân dẫm nát núi rừng cao
Có lúc dừng chân bên sông lạnh
Nhớ người ta thấy dạ nao nao
Biền biệt người đi từ thuở đó
Con sông nước vẫn miệt mài trôi
Bến đò kia có ai còn nhớ?
Người năm xưa đã khóc một người
Bao năm qua ta trở về chốn cũ
Ngồi bên sông chờ chuyến đò qua
Cây với ta một màu ủ rủ
Người có hay ta lệ nhạt nhòa
By The River,
I Missed A Person
English version by Nguyen Huu Ly
I’ve returned to my old native place after so many years far-away
Sitting by the river, I waited for the crossing ferry-boat
How many times did water and I travel far and double-quick
And share together so many heart-rending feelings?
I missed the ferry and its traveler at that time
By the river, my eyes were still soaking-wet with tears
Gross injustice had rushed down that young lady’s fate
To see her off. My heart was broken into pieces
There were several evenings I used to await
The crossing ferry-boats crowded with travelers
As always, the lack of a person’s silhouette along that river bank
Made me silently grieved
As a young man’s wandering life for months and years
I had trampled high mountains and forests down under my foot
Sometimes, I stopped by the cold river
I looked perplexed in memory of a person
Ever since she left, I haven’t heard from her
The river water was still perpetually running along the current
Did anybody still remember that ferry-landing?
Where a man of old who had once wept for a person
I’ve returned to my old native place after so many years far-away
Sitting by the river, I waited for the crossing ferry-boat
Trees and I wore a sullen color
Did you ever know that my eyes were blurred with tears, my love?
